Community hero Award
2018

Founded in 2016 by a group of predominantly local Latinx residents, Pajaro Valley Pride has celebrated three consecutive years of vibrant community Pride celebrations and community events throughout the year. With a commitment to building local leaders, PV Pride awards annual academic scholarships to LGBTQ+ high school seniors in Watsonville.

Through drag shows, community gatherings, and collaborations with local non-profit organizations, the planning committee has demonstrated an admirable dedication to the LGBTQ+ community. We honor our partner, the Pajaro Valley Pride committee, for their work in uplifting and empowering the LGBTQ+ community in Watsonville.

Organizational Ally to Queer youth award
2019

The Organizational Allies to Queer Youth are organizations such as Pajaro Valley Pride that put on events that empower youth by celebrating the queer community and fundraising for scholarships to award graduating seniors.

“Being able to support these students lets them know that yeah, you have people behind, you have a community behind you and yes, you can do whatever you put your mind to.” said Jorge Guillen, president of Pajaro Valley Pride.
